KVK’s play innovative role in boosting agricultural activities: G. H Mir

BANDIPORA, AUGUST 20: Minister for Agriculture, Ghulam Hassan Mir today visited the Krishi Vigyan Kendra Bandipora coming up on 440 kanals of land and took on-the- spot assessment of various research programmes started in the KVK. During the visit, the Minister was informed about the activities of the KVK. He was told that with the establishment of KVK in 2005,  the production of various crops ,including oil seed, Pulses, Paddy, Maize, Oats, wheat and vegetables have been increased manifold  by way of

providing  latest technical input to the farmers of the District.The Minister was also informed that in near future, the KVK would produce quality seeds in all crops including the vegetables. While interacting with the farmers, Mir said that the main objective for establishment of KVK’s at district level is to strengthen the research programme on Agriculture and its allied sectors to familiarize the latest agriculture sciences which are suitable for local conditions. He stressed  upon the scientists  to work with dedication and ensure that its benefits  reachs to the farmers.The Minister said that KVK’s play an innovative role in boosting the agricultural activities in the state and stressed for mass awareness among the farmers about the various available farming techniques to achieve maximum quality production out of minimum Agriculture land. He asked them  by involving local public representatives in such programmers would yield positive results on the ground.Referring about the land issue between farmers and KVK, the Minister directed DDC Bandipora to sort out this issue at the earliest as per the norms  so that the developmental works of the KVK may not suffer further.Later, the Minister interacted with the trainees of Cutting and tailoring, which was established by KVK. The trainees very much satisfied about the programme and demanded much more training programmes in food preservation, food processing. The Minister gave on spot direction to concerned for setting up these programmes. Deputy commissioner, Bandipora Manzoor Ahmad Lone, Director research extension SKUAST(K), Dr Afifa Kamali , Resarch Scholars Of KVK, Chief Agriculture Officer, Bandipora and other senior officers were present on the occasion.
